Two year certification
BLS Blended Course is designed to teach students CPR for victims of all ages, use the automated external defibrillator (AED) and relief of choking. Instruction is given on recognition of life-threatening emergencies and basic CPR techniques. It is designed for healthcare professionals and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings, and teaches both single -rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings. It is required for all medical, personal and anyone desiring or required to obtain the advanced knowledge and skills taught at this level. Upon successful completion of skills demonstration, students will receive their BLS course completion card which is valid for two years.
Part 1-online course work must be completed prior to attending class
Students are emailed access to online course work to be completed. Students work at their own pace. Once the student has completed all online course work, the student must print the course completion certificate and bring to class to give to the instructor.
Part 2- Hands on skills practice session with a Certified Instructor
Students practice and demonstrate skills in person. Students must demonstrate efficiency of skills proving adequate compressions, breathing technique and AED. These skills are demonstrated in rescue scenarios where the student performs knowledge of all three skills. Compressions, Breathing Techniques, AED and choking skills are performed for adult, child and infant. Course is complete after finishing both part 1 and part 2 of the course.
